Sweat Alone

RAIN, IT WONDERS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN NEXT. THE GRASS SHINES, SLIP AND SLIDE, NO ONE KNOWS. I KNOW. MUD IS WET DIRT. GO FIGURE. TIRED EYES BLINK WITH HOPE THAT THE SHUTTERS WILL STAY SHUT. THEY WON'T. QUESTION THE WEATHER REAP THE REWARD OF FREEDOM. LEAF BLANKETS HELD UNTIL THE SUN SHOWS. SWEAT ALONE.

Hector

H ector wipes his forehead
E astside carwash is busy for a Tuesday he thinks
L anes continue to fill without rest
L unch break might as well be a month away

I nside Hector hates Eastside carwash
S arah needs school clothes, so he does what he has to make it happen

R eady for the next car? His supervisor bellows
E astside carwash will put Hector in his grave
A ngelo is hung over and useless today, you can smell the previous evening on him
L unch whistle screams, break time
